Founded in 1947, the LEFORT® brand aims to engineer and manufacture robust, reliable and efficient machines while being adapted to the specific and demanding recycling industry. Each machine, which comes out of our factories, is the result of more than 75 years of experience and know-how, recognized worldwide. Our equipment is distributed through our own subsidiaries or in partnership with a network of official dealers guaranteeing a fast and efficient service.

Our history

1947

Foundation

In Gosselies (Belgium), Nestor Lefort founds a small workshop specialising in manufacturing and maintaining hydraulic equipment. This workshop is the birthplace of the first above 7,300 psi hydraulic pumps.

1948

A solution

Disposing of light scrap generated by small local factories is becoming a problem. Nestor Lefort registers patents and begins production of hydraulic balers to reduce the volume of waste metal.

1958

The first hydraulic alligator shear

Yvon Lefort, Nestor’s son, invents and manufactures the hydraulic alligator shear. A world first.

1962

Succession

Yvon Lefort takes over from his father; drawing inspiration from his father’s long experience, he brings a new impetus to the enterprise.

1964

First mobile baler

The first mobile baler is built.

1966

GA 700

Creation of the first automatic guillotine shear, the GA 700.

1970

Blueprints

Yvon Lefort patents the first toggle-action compression box.

1982

Cisaille mobile 420 T

Christian Lefort designs the 420T mobile shear: the first of an impressive family of mobile machines of all sizes that will go on to revolutionise the world of recycling.

1997

New offices

New offices built, with facilities extended for the inauguration of two production lines.

1998

New management

Christian Lefort is appointed Managing Director of the LEFORT® Group.

2002

LEFORT UK

LEFORT UK is created, the outcome of a successful 20 year partnership with the Chapman family.

2006

Research & Development

A new hydraulic test bench is developed. Inauguration of a new factory manufacturing hydraulic cylinders. New facilities built with new offices for after-sales service.

2010

Mobile 500 No. 1000

The new Mobile 500T - serial number 1000 - leaves the LEFORT® factory.

2011

Midway TS / BL

The Midway is launched, in TS and BL versions.

2011

Conkest

The new Conkest shear is launched, the ideal solution for limited volume sites.

2013

ISO 9001 Certification

ISO 9001 Certification of LEFORT®.

2014

LEFORT America / LEFORT France

Foundation of LEFORT America, based in Florida and LEFORT France, in Lyon.

2015

Demo Days

LEFORT North America organises its first Demo Day, with a 1000 t cutting force mobile machine, which was then delivered to a customer in Oklahoma, USA

2016

TRAX©

Launch of the TRAX© range, a self-propelled machine that generates major savings by minimising the need to move scrap on site.

2016

MTP800

Arrival of the new MTP800 shredder, marking LEFORT®’s official return to the shredder market.

2018

BR mobile

First track-mounted mobile shredder with integrated power unit.

2019

New KOLOSS range

New range of “heavy” shears. A redesigned range that is more modern, faster and more robust than ever.

2020

TRAX 1100 USA

The first TRAX1100 (US version) sold near New York.

2023

COPEX SA

Acquisition of the company COPEX SA. French manufacturer of balers and shears for recycling metal waste.
